Project story
Background
The traditional way of waste collector to collect residential container is by following the paper document of the route, visiting each household one-by-one. Firstly, it takes a considerable amount of time to train new employees, making the industry vulnerable to employee turnover after investing months in training. Secondly, the manual and siloed processes make it difficult for businesses to gain valuable insights into their routes.
Recognizing these issues, WasteHero seizes the opportunity to optimize the workflow of waste collectors by introducing a digitalized work process. Our project focuses on developing an MVP for a navigation app, seamlessly integrated with the main platform, to enable waste collectors to transition from manual to digital processes effortlessly. The primary objective is to enhance the efficiency of waste collection operations while streamlining the employee onboarding process for the business.

Stakeholders
The navigation app is primarily designed for the truck drivers who will be the main user group. Through this app, drivers should be able to easily communicate with the route planners, ensuring smooth coordination throughout the waste collection process. Additionally, the app should allows for automated notifications to be sent to citizens, keeping them informed about the status of container collection.

- 1Drivers to CitizensEnable easy communicate with the route planners, ensuring smooth coordination throughout the waste collection process
- 2Driver to Route plannersEnable easy communicate, ensuring smooth coordination throughout the waste collection process.
Objectives
As mentioned earlier, the waste collection process currently relies on paper documents, which can be inefficient and prone to errors. Additionally, we have observed that the average age of the drivers is relatively high, which presents a significant challenge in transitioning to a digitalized system smoothly.
To address this challenge, we must focus on creating an intuitive and user-friendly digital solution that simplifies the waste collection process for all drivers, regardless of their age or technical expertise. By providing comprehensive training and ongoing support, we can ensure that the drivers feel confident and comfortable using the new digital tools. Moreover, incorporating familiar elements from the existing paper-based system into the digital interface can ease the transition and encourage adoption.
Hers is the Project scope:
Objective 01
An MVP of a digitalised waste collection navigation app within 8 months
- We need to ensure a MVP that covered most of the important workflow of waste collectors.
Objective 02
User-Centric Design and ensure seamless interaction with WasteHero admin platform
- We must ensure the app design is user-friendly for all groups and seamlessly connects data to the main platform.
